Leadership
Abby Bloch, Ph.D., R.D. is the Executive Director for Programs and Research at the Dr. Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Foundation. In this capacity, she has overseen the allocation of more than $29 million in grants. For more than 30 years, Dr. Bloch has worked in many different capacities to further the medical community's understanding of the relationship between nutrition and disease management. Before joining the Atkins Foundation, she served as the Director of Clinical Nutrition Research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center while maintaining a private consulting practice. Dr. Bloch holds a doctorate in clinical nutrition from New York University. She has been an adjunct professor of nutrition and health at New York University and at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Bloch is the author of six books related to the clinical aspects of nutrition, diet, and disease prevention, including Issues and Choices in Clinical Nutrition Practice, and has been a frequent lecturer on those topics. She has also been a contributing author for the past six editions of the leading medical nutrition textbook, Modern Nutrition in Health and Disease as well as a contributor to numerous other books. Dr. Bloch was awarded the American Dietetic Association's prestigious Medallion Award for leadership.
