About the Foundation

The Robert C. and Veronica Atkins Foundation was established in 1999 and reorganized in 2003 with a $40 million gift from Dr. Atkins’ estate. The Foundation funds independent, scientific research examining the role of metabolism and nutrition in disease and other major health concerns confronting our society.

Through a proactive grantmaking strategy, the Atkins Foundation seeks to invest in the science of nutrition and the formulation of nutrition policy. To date, the Foundation has funded more than 50 research programs, projects and awards totaling nearly $30 million.
